Erik Dippenaar

During 2003 Erik Dippenaar obtained the degree B.Mus (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. In 2007 he was awarded a MMus (with distinction) by the Royal College of Music, London, and in 2008 he obtained an Artist Diploma in Performance from the RCM under Jane Chapman (harpsichord) and Geoffrey Govier (fortepiano).

Erik has played in various important early music festivals such as the Greenwich Early Music Festival, the London Handel Festival, the Brighton Early Music Festival and the Trigonale Festival der Alten Musik. Erik’s primary activity is chamber music and he regularly appears with Florilegium, The London Handel Players, Melopoetica, Amaranthos and L’Avventura London. He has worked for the English Touring Opera and the Solomon Choir & Orchestra.

Regular solo recitals included a recital for the British Harpsichord Society. Erik has broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and recently made his Concertgebouw debut.

Twice Erik was the winner of the RCM Early Music Competition. During the 7th London Handel Singing Competition in March 2008 he was awarded the Accompanist’s Prize. He is also a member of the group, Musici Infaticabili, who won the Broadwood Early Keyboard Ensemble Competition, Fenton House, May 2008.

During 2008/2009 Erik was appointed as Mills/Williams Junior Fellow at the RCM. He currently teaches harpsichord at the Centre for Young Musicians, London.
