Sara Deborah Struntz

German-born violinist Sara Deborah Struntz is enjoying a wide-ranging performing career as a recitalist, soloist and chamber musician, playing on both modern and period instruments.

She has appeared as a soloist at the Wiener Konzerthaus, St James Piccadilly and Cadogan Hall and has performed chamber music and solo at festivals including the York Early Music, Trigonale and London Handel Festival and Fraenkischer Sommer. She performs recitals across Europe in the duo with her husband, pianist Alessandro Timossi and won a Philip & Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists in 2008. As a member of chamber groups Ensemble Amaranthos and Chiaroscuro Quartet she appeared at the Wigmore Hall, St-Martin-in-the-Fields, The Sage/Gateshead, Aldeburgh Music and King’s Place and broadcast for BBC3. She regularly works with the UK’s leading baroque ensembles and was a member and section leader of the European Union Baroque Orchestra 2008. She recently performed as a soloist at the Lufthansa Baroque Festival 2010 and features on La Serenissima’s new CD release ‘Gods, Emperors and Angels’ on the Avie label.

Sara Deborah obtained her Masters of Music and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music, London, in 2007 studying with Natalia Boyarsky and Adrian Butterfield as a scholar of various foundations including the Leverhulme and Amaryllis Fleming Trusts, Peter Pirazzi-Stiftung and Ev. Studienwerk Villigst. She was coached in masterclasses by Rachel Podger, Catherine Mackintosh, Robert Levin and Sir Roger Norrington among others and has worked under Lars-Ulrik Mortensen, Enrico Onofri, Ivan Fischer and Vladimir Jurowski. During 2007/08 she was appointed the Phoebe Benham Junior Fellow at the RCM, and since January 2008 she works as an Assistant teacher for violin at the Yehudi Menuhin School.
